7 Tips for Preventing Mold In Your Home

7 Tips for Preventing Mold In Your Home

Exposure to mould is more common than you think!

Your home may be covered with mould, but you don’t realize it. Exposure to mold is common both inside and outside the home. Some people are more sensitive than others, especially those with allergies and asthma. Because mould spores are very small and can easily be inhaled into the lungs, it is harmful to live in a home with high mould levels. Exposure to high spore levels can cause severe mould allergies.

How do I know if I have mold and what do I do?

Moulds grow on organic materials such as wood, paper, leather, dirt and soap scum. They grow best at warm, moist temperatures, between 15 to 28 degrees Celsius.
The simplest way to detect a mould problem is using your own senses. A musty odor is one indication. Not only is mould smelly, but can be many different colors from black and gray to orange and green. Watermarks on the ceiling and walls are also a telltale sign.
Most often bleach and water can be used to rid the house of mould. The problem is this does not guarantee that the mould will not come back in the future. The only way to keep your house clean is to prevent mould from occurring.

Here are 7 tips for mould prevention:

  1. Wet materials need to be dried quickly.

Mould will grow within 2 days given the right conditions. Leaving your wet towel or other item lying around inside or outside the house gives mould a chance. Ever left your laundry in the washer for too long? The nasty smell when you pull it out is mould.
  2. Cleaning, disinfecting and drying surfaces prevents mould growth.

Surfaces like sinks or floors are also favorite places for mold; more so if they are wet most of the time. Luckily these are typically non porous surfaces (tile, stone, laminate…) which makes them ideal for disinfectants and other cleaners. Some people consider the strongest and safest method of disinfecting to be a vapor steam cleaner. Once finished cleaning, make sure no moisture remains. Mould can grow faster than you think. Making sure your surfaces are dry prevents other hazards for the residents living there too.
  3. Reduce moisture levels in the bathroom by running an exhaust fan during and after showers.

Your foggy mirror isn’t the worst problem you’ll have if you don’t use the fan during your shower. The moisture in the air is getting into every nook and cranny, the kind of places that are very hard to clean, even if you do notice the mold growing there. Exhaust fans help minimize the moisture level in the bathroom as well as the possibility of growing mold.
  4. Fix plumbing leaks and seepage to prevent the buildup of moisture and prevent the growth of mould.

Leaks are caused by pipes that have disintegrated already. It is important to replace old pipes as soon as they show signs of being dilapidated. The moisture from a leaky pipe will travel much further than just the visible signs. No matter how much you try to keep the house clean, there are still areas that you are neglecting or can’t get to. Those are the places mould loves to grow.
  5. Store clothing, camping gear, and other occasional use items dry and clean to prevent the growth of mould.

Thoroughly dry your items before putting them into storage. Try to put them outside or in places where there is air circulating. The last thing you want to find out on a camping trip is that your tent was put away wet last time and is covered in mold.
  6. Increase the flow of air within your home.

Moving furniture away from walls and opening closet doors to permit air circulation limits the growth of molds. Confined spaces and dark areas should be kept ventilated. Open windows are preferable over fans and air conditioning. There should be a stable availability of fresh air coming inside the house to prevent mold.
  7. Deal with your basement!, and prevent condensation.

Lets face it, no one likes going down to the musty basement. You just need to man (or woman) up and deal with it. Whether that means running a dehumidifier, installing a foundation drain, or getting more air circulation, don’t let that moisture remain trapped under you home. Insulating walls and installing storm or thermal pane windows keeps walls warm and limits condensation.
Other additional mold prevention tips :
You may not realize it yet but those beautiful plants you have in your home could be harboring unwanted friends and foes. Plants are great for helping to keep the air in the home clean but can also be a source of mold. Moulds like to grow in the soil of our house plants and sometimes on the leaves.
One simple treatment can help keep your houseplants mould free. Taheboo tea can help to retard mold growth in your plants soil. Just adding this tea to your house plant water in a mild solution is enough to do the trick!

How Often Should You Clean Your Gutters?

How Often Should You Clean Your Gutters?

It’s dirty work, but every house has to do it or get it done. Your gutters need to be kept clean and free of dead leaves, birds’ nests, and other debris. It’s just a fact of life when it comes to owning a home.
And it’s especially true in New Zealand, where summer is so dry and fall, winter, and spring are so wet. Why? Because we tend to forget about our gutters in New Zealand until it’s too late.
Dry leaves, tree branches, and other material can accumulate in your gutters during the dry summer and you won’t notice until your gutters start overflowing during the first big rain of the season. Or worse, you won’t notice at all.
Today I’ll answer a few questions many homeowners have about cleaning their gutters, including why it’s necessary, how often it’s necessary, and most importantly how to clean your gutters.

What Can Happen if You Don’t Clean Your Gutters?

wash rite gutter cleaning hamilton

It sounds like a simple question, but the reality is that unclean gutters can lead to many complex and costly problems. Let’s look at a few of them

Leaky Gutters & Mold

If you don’t clean your gutters, the first problem to crop up will be clogged gutters and downspouts leading to standing water collecting in your gutters and overflowing. As dead leaves decompose, the water in your gutters will become filthy and mold will start growing and will contaminate your roof and house siding.
In our wet climate, mold is common and can cause a host of health problems if it gets inside your house. And it’s tricky (and expensive) to thoroughly clean, so it’s best to stop mold before it starts.

Leaking Roofs & Floods house

Replacing your roof is a major undertaking– even if you put a new roof on top of your existing roof. The best strategy is to get the most out of your current roof by protecting it from the elements.
If you put off cleaning your gutters, your roof can and will leak. Water that doesn’t drain to the ground can accumulate on the roof, soaking through eves and fascia boards and causing significant damage.
The same goes for your basement or lower levels in your house. If your gutter’s downspouts are clogged, don’t drain into a storm water pipe or far enough away from the house (at least 6-10 feet is recommended), or are disconnected from your gutters, water can seep into your houses foundations.
This can cause damage to anything you have stored in the lower level of your house , as well as to your foundation itself. You might also damage your heating units, circuit breakers, and other utilities in the lower parts of your house.

Cracked Foundations

A cracked foundation is a major headache for any homeowner. Repairs can be very costly. But an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. By extending your downspouts away from your home (and making sure water is flowing through them), or connecting them up to the stor water piping system you’ll protect your foundation from cracks. Foundation cracks are caused by water damage and by expanding ice during the coldest part of the winter.

Bugs & Other Critters

Gutters are a magnet for insects, birds, mice and other animals. Warm moist decomposing leaves are a rich source of food for many pests and once they’ve settled into your gutters, their next stop will be inside your house.
If you discover birds or other wildlife, call your local animal control center for advice.

Driveway & Yard Damage

When it comes to your lawn and plants, too much water is just as bad as not enough. If your gutters aren’t draining water properly, water can pool up (even underground) killing delicate plants.
Too much water that isn’t draining properly can cause slick mold to grow on your driveway, or freeze into slippery ice during the winter. Both of these problems can lead to falls and potentially serious injuries, especially to kids and older adults.

How Often Should You Clean Your Gutters?

wash rite gutter cleaning hamilton

Like many other questions, the answer is, “it depends!” Many experts recommend cleaning your gutters at least twice a year– once in the late spring and once in the late summer/early fall. But there are a few factors that might make you reconsider.
If you have pine trees growing above your house, consider inspecting your gutters every 3 months. The reason for this is because pine trees shed needles year-round (and they have a lot of needles to shed).
If you’re at a higher elevation, ice is your biggest worry. Making sure your gutters are clean throughout the winter is a bit of a headache, but damage to your roof caused by ice is a real pain. Better to catch it before it starts.

TIPS TO KEEP YOUR DRIVEWAY OR CONCRETE AREA'S CLEAN

There are a few easy steps you can take to keep your driveway clean and free from moss, mould and gunge. Now there is no replacement for getting a professional company in to clean and treat your driveway and hard surfaces. These tips are for after the professionals have been in and cleaned your concrete and you wish to keep it looking clean and just like it was brand new. For a free quote on the initial clean click FREE QUOTE

After your driveway is clean and you wish to keep it clean you can follow some or all of the bellow points.

  • Mix a 10 to 1 bleach to water solution and spray that over the concrete once a month, The sodium hypoclhorite in the bleach will kill and moss, mould and gunge spaws before they can grow.
  • If you have fruit tree's in your garden you would almost certainly spray them with cooper sulphate on a yearly basis. Next time you spray your fruit trees make a little more up than you need and spray any concrete area's. Nothing kills moss, mould spaw's as fast as cooper sulphate.
  • A very Eco friendly option os to spray the concrete with vinegar, This is not as fast as bleach but will slow down the return of the moss and mould dramatically as it puts the PH balance out and its not ideally growing conditions for the moss and mould.
  • The best long term option if its available is to trim or cut down any plants or trees that is shading your concrete, direct sunlight is great for stopping moss and mould growing, As you will see it always grows on the shaded side of your house. Sunlight is free so try this step first.

COST AND BENEFITS OF WASHING YOUR ROOF

Wash Rite Moss and Mould Removal

If you’re noticing black streaking and stains on your roof, you may be thinking it’s time to replace it. You’re dreading the cost of such a large project, but before you start calling for estimates, you should consider calling a profession roof cleaning service first like Wash Rite.

HOW BAD IS THE DAMAGE?

If you can see the algae, lichen, moss, mildew or mold on my roof, that’s not a great sign. We can’t say for sure if your roof is damaged beyond repair without seeing it first, but unless the roof system is over 15 years, it’s probably safe to say you could have it cleaned and gain considerably more time to save up for a total replacement down the road.
The plants growing on the roof can be killed and washed off with a good low pressure wash. Wash Rite not only gently washes your roof to protect your roofing material warranty, we also apply an algaecide/fungicide to inhibit future growth.

WILL A ROOF CLEANING SAVE ME MONEY?

Absolutely, a roof cleaning will save you money. First, hiring a professional company to wash and protect your roof saves you 90 to 95 percent of the cost of a total replacement right off the bat. If the roof is still within its service life, you won’t need to come up with the $10,000 plus to replace the roof if it is of an average size, slope and standard materials. The cost savings jumps from there if you have a cedar, shingle, slate roof, as these are considerably more expensive to replace.
On top of those savings, by removing the sun-absorbing black stains, you’ll restore the reflective properties of the roofs protective coatings, which can help reduce the heat-trapping in your attic and reduce your summer cooling costs.
Hiring a professional company to wash and protect your roof saves you 80-90% of the cost of a total replacement.

WILL A ROOF CLEANING EXTEND THE LIFE OF MY ROOF?

In our wet and humid climate, plant growth on roofs and home exteriors is so common that we can say yes, a good cleaning and algaecide/fungicide application will extend the life of your roof. In our climate zone, the average roof life, without regular cleaning, is 14 to 18 years. In New Zealand, where roof cleaning has been routinely practiced for the better part of 40 years, the average roof life is 24 to 28 years. That’s a 10-year extension of roof life! With regular roof cleanings and no storm damages, you might need to replace your roof twice in 50 years. Without cleanings, you may end up replacing it every 15 years.

WILL A CLEAN ROOF ENHANCE MY HOME’S CURB APPEAL?

It sure will. If you’re putting your home on the market, any streaking, staining, moss or lichen growth on the roof is going to stand out like a sore thumb and turn prospects away. They’ll see a maintenance chore or re-roof awaiting them, so they will be discouraged from buying. We highly recommend a good low pressure wash cleaning not only for your roof but your whole house as well. You should be able to get top dollar with a bright clean property.
Before you start calling roofing companies, give Wash Rite a call. Or, you can schedule a free estimate online. We would be happy to come assess your roof to see if it’s a good candidate for a money-saving roof wash. Contact us today!

Franchising Your House Wash Business

Wash Rite House Washing - Hamilton & Wellington
Now you have grown to the point where you have a decent market share in your local market. Its clear to you that growth in that market will still happen at a fast pace but not as fast as the first 12 months was. But you still want to expend into new city's and new towns. You have two main options.

1st is to open up satellite depots in those city's and run it as a company owned operation. This is a great option as you have 100% control over everything. But it has major draw backs as well the two main ones are you have to pay for everything and pay up front before you get any type of return. second is you have to hire staff to help run it for you and we all know staff on wages done care anywhere near as much as someone who has money on the line.

2nd option is sell franchises in those are's you want to open up. This is in my opinion the best option. As long as you vet the person you sell the franchise too and go into business with honest hardworking people it should be a win win for all involved. They foot the bill for all start up cost's and you train and give them guidance on how to run there business and make money at the same time.
You also get the benefit of franchise fees or royalties depending on how your format the deal. Just remember it needs to be a win win for both parties.

At Wash Rite we have just sold our first franchise to Tim Beale down in Wellington, He has been set up with all New Equipment provided to us by our friends at BE Pressure and he has undergone 3 weeks training in 2 blocks, 1st block was a 1 week period and than the second was a 2 week block of training.

After this training Tim is up to speed on sales and marketing, quoting, client relations, basic business management and actually doing the work. A few days Tim left our head office with his van fitted out, signed written and a head full of knowledge and is now back in Wellington spreading the Wash Rite word. Tim already has over 14 jobs booked in over the next two weeks and he has only just started.

This type of business format will only work if you both work.

At Wash Rite its our intention to roll out 4 more franchises in the next 12 months across the country and grow our service network, We intend on being the largest domestic service's company in the country within 5 years and we are on track to doing this.

If you have any questions around franchising or growing your service business please just ask.

WHY ITS IMPORTANT TO WASH YOUR HOUSE

The question i get asked on a daily basis is why is it important to wash my house or roof?? Well its simple your house is your biggest asset. Washing your house and roof will protect the exterior paint or roofing material from harmful moss, mould and lichen which all degrade paint and oxidizers  roofing material.
The picture below is a before and after of a house washed by Wash Rite in Hamilton New Zealand and you can easily see a massive difference in the look and paint condition. A low pressure chemical soap wash is always before for houses as high pressure is not needed and this will prevent paint stripping.
What not many home owners know that some moulds release a chemical while it grows that is corrosive, If this is not cleaned off this will damage your paint and can corrode your aluminium joinery over a period of time.

Wash Rite recommend to all its customers in both Hamilton and Wellington to have your house washed every 12 months and your roof treated for moss and mould every 18 months for the best results. For more information about house washing visit http://washrite.co.nz/services/house-wash/

Another important thing to keep in mind is the ever forgot gutters. You MUST clean your gutters every year ideally at the end of autumn as this will stop your gutters from backing up and over flowing and flooding your house. Most insurance company's will NOT pay out for this type of damage as its your failure to clean the gutters that caused the back up.
A simple gutter clean will save a major issue down the track. Wash Rite often throws in a free gutter clean to clients who book a house wash and roof treatment on the same day. Its a value added service that protects the clients house.

The final service that is a MUST to any home owner that wants to look after there largest investment is a moss and mould roof treatment. This service is a low pressure chemical treatment that kills the moss and mould and lichen on your roof, It will take about 10 to 18 weeks to see great results but it also keeps cleaning for up to 12 months which means once the moss and mould is gone you will have another 10 months of hassle free clean roofs. As the roof is the shield for the house against weather elements its important to look after your roof, and with a replacement cost of around $18000.00 a new roof is not always an option so keep it clean and save yourself a lot of money.
As you will see in the above picture one roof was treated and one was not. This picture was taken around 16 weeks after the treatment and as you can see there is a massive change, For more information on moss and mould roof treatments visit http://washrite.co.nz/services/roof-wash/

Your house is also your home so look after it and give it the maintenance it deserves and it will keep your warm and protected for many years to come, A professional house wash and roof treatment may cost you $500 per year but this is a small price to pay to protect in most cases your life savings.

If you have any questions around exterior house cleaning or roof maintenance feel free to make contact through the Wash Rite website at http://washrite.co.nz/contact-us/ and we will be happy to help.

HOW TO SECURE THE BIG JOBS IN THE EXTERIOR WASH INDUSTRY

As your progress from a small business to a medium and large business in the house wash or roof wash industry you naturally want to target some of the large commercial or more prestige jobs to help build your brand and image. So the million dollar question how to do you get these big jobs??

Well there is no simple answer, if there was everyone would be doing it and everyone would be getting these types of jobs. But i can give you a few tips and pointers on how we go about getting these bigger jobs.

1st is the larges company's want to deal with reputable company's so always act in business in a legal and moral way, Now i am not saying don't be competitive and aggressive chasing jobs as i would be the most aggressive person in my industry in my area without a doubt.

2nd would be use any and all contacts you have to try and get a foot in the door, try and at least be able to get a quote in for the job.

3nd don't be afraid to cut your rates for the first few jobs just to get them, build a reputation for doing these large jobs than raise your rates back to market rate and when you get to where i am you can go even higher.

4th is don't be afraid to say NO, Wealth people or business leaders like to deal with people who are confident and know what there doing and know how to get the job done right, If that means saying NO than say it and be confident in your skills. If your not confident they will pick up on it and they will not trust you to do the job.

5th, When you quote be factual and give them all the information about the house wash or roof cleaning, Such as how many days it will take, any extra equipment such as lifting booms you will have on the jobs, any safety issues you have or will cause, and so on this again will show the client you know what your doing and they can trust you to do the job right the first time.

At Wash Rite we have done some of the largest jobs and most prestige jobs in New Zealand, Such as in February 2016 we washed the dot com mansion formally the resident of Kim dot com.

We are back washing the roof of the Dot com mansion in late October 2016 and we will year after year.

Another recent job we have done is a full exterior wash of Westfield Chartwell shopping complex, This job was done after hours at night and was a 4 Night job with 3 crews none stop on it, We are back in November 2016 to wash the roof.
Another large job we do twice a year is washing the exterior and roof cleaning of Braemer Hospital in Hamilton New Zealand, This is a 6 day job for 3 crews, There is alot of glass to be cleaned on this job.
These are only a few but there great ones to show as all of these where clients we walked in off the street and offer a free quote to and they all agreed and now signed a 5 years contract for each of these, Just these 3 alone are $75500 per year in revenue alone.
So the point is don't be shy get out there knock on doors, introduce yourself and start doing free quotes and you never know what you will pick up next.

Why you offer gutter cleaning service's

As a house wash, pressure wash or softwash company why should you offer gutter cleaning as part of the service's you offer your client base.
Well its simple its a great value added service that you can upsell when your wash there house or there roof, This means you are already onsite doing a larger job with a larger cost so that means what ever your charge for gutter cleaning is almost pure profit. We at Wash Rite House Wash will charge $90 for a single story gutter clean and $150.00 for a two story gutter clean job and they take around about 1hr to do property, This includes flushing out the down pipes. This means your making up to $150 per hour.

The other main reason you want to ad gutter cleaning to the list of services you offer your clients is that you open the door for a company who does offer it to come in and build a relationship with your clients which is never a smart thing to do in the world of small business.

The decision is yours if your want to market yourself as a gutter cleaning company we at Wash Rite do not do this, We find we get heaps of work just up selling to current clients, plus we will not come out and just clean gutters it has to be an ad on to another service, This just keeps our profit margins where we like them.

The other bonus to offering this service is there is very little investment needed for the equipment to offer this service as you would already have the needed equipment for your house and roof washing duties so your ROI (return on investment) is extremely high and in most cases the first gutter clean you do will pay for all the equipment you will ever need.

The good thing also about the high profit margin is it leaves room in case to secure a good size job you can offer a 50% discount on the gutter clean portion of your quote and still make money and the client believe's they are getting a great deal, Which they are they just don't need to know what your profit margin and cost's are on that job, That's only the information you as a business owner needs to worry about.

Now gutter cleaning is not a glamours service and you will not get rich by offering this service but it will make your company a better option and a better service provider to your current and future client base by offering this service, Plus you can lift the yearly spend of each client by 20% just by offering this service.

Any questions about gutter cleaning just ask

Business systems in your house wash business

Arguably the most important thing to have in place and implemented in your house wash or roof wash business is good simple systems.
Most people roll there eye's and turn off when they hear the term business system's. This is because they don't understand what business systems are and they believe they will not be able to build and implement them into there business.

Well they are easy and simple to do. first thing you need to do is to have the frame of mind that the business needs to be able to operate and also grow without you there guiding it down the path. So first thing to do is write a stand operating procedure for everything, How to wash a house, how to wash a roof, how to make house wash soap, how to pressure wash a driveway and so on, Do this for every service you do and write it in plan simple English so all your staff can read it, understand it, process it and implement it.

Once you have done that you need to make it accessible to all staff. I have mine stored on google docs app so all staff have access to it 24/7 regardless where they are.

I have they in place for operational staff out in the friend doing the house washing and moss and mould roof treatments and another set for admin staff in the office taking calls, phone sales, door to door sales and even me as the owner of Wash Rite.

With everyone in the business having there SOP (standard operation procedures) this free's me up from the day to day questions which they can answer themselves now from just reading the google docs app
Of course if there still unsure i am contactable 24/7 and when ever i am needed by my staff, I always say the only stupid question is the one you don't ask so always ask.

Once you have all these procedures done and implemented and there second nature to your employees you will find you have massive amount of time free now, You can chose to relax and cut back your working time or like me find new ways to grow your business with that time. I chose to grow my business and in turn grow my systems and grow the money i make for less and less work which will allow even more free time to devote to new growth as my staff have taken over the old methods of growth and are keeping those methods producing work and income for the business.

Now the important thing to do when you get to this level is consolidate your customers and income and start to raise your prices by 10% the first 2 years and by 5% every year after, Yes you will loose some clients by lifting your prices but you will be replacing them with higher paying clients, As Keith Kelfas from The Landscape Employee Trap puts it your growing the top while dissolving the bottom, And to be honest i could not word it better myself.

When you get to year 3 of implementing the systems you will find your business is making good money day in and day out and your client base is full of decent paying clients that has a good average income per job ratio.

Now your at the level where you have good cash flow and spare time on your hand, This is the time where i would start to look at investing some of the money your making into cash producing assets such as real estate, This way you now have two forms of income, The business on one side and your rental property or property's on the other and keep building from there.

If anyone has any questions on how i structure my house wash business Wash Rite please feel free to comment and i will reply. Don't forget to follow this blog.

Thanks

Why should you wash your roof???

As i go around and meet clients at Wash Rite House and Roof Washing and provide them with a quote to clean and or treat there roof for moss and mould i get asked often "why should you wash you roof?"

Well it's very simple why you should wash your roof! Keeping your roof clean and free from harmful moss and mould will prolong the life of your roof. And cleaning and treating your roof is alot cheaper in both the short term and long term than replacing your roof.

All roofing manufactures in New Zealand recommend that you should clean your roof or have it treated for moss and mould at least every 2 years to keep your roof in its best shape and to prevent premature degrading and failure of your roof.

Around the world all the big insurance company's are now starting to not insure houses if the roof is not cleaned on a regular basis as they do not wish to be forced to pay out claims for roof replacements, The worlds largest insurer as well as New Zealand largest AIG have implemented this policy in the past 6 months

As we all know you do not want to be left without insurance when you really need it. At Wash Rite we always recommend that all our clients do a full roof clean every 2 years and a moss and mould roof treatment every other year. This system works very well in the New Zealand environment and the roofs look great and the clients are always happy with the outcomes we get for them. I will shop some pictures of our work below.
This is a two unit block, one owner wanted it treated for moss and mould
and the other for what ever reason did not want it or was not available to ask.

This is two small house joined with a common wall, One house hold got treated
and the other did not like any chemicals used on there property so no
treatment was done on there half of the roof.

As you can see we at Wash Rite can get some outstanding results from our roof cleaning and treatment methods and we always recommend to keep your roof in great shape as its protecting the rest of your house which is your biggest asset you own.

If you have any question please feel free to ask, you can email me on washrite@outlook.com or visit http://washrite.co.nz/services/roof-wash/

My answer is away's the same, 1st House Wash, 2nd Roof clean or moss and mould treatment. And when i am asked why would i recommend these two services first its very simple! these two will protect the two largest and most expensive items of your house, The siding / cladding and the roof. To have to replace either or both of these due to damage from moss, mould and lichen would be very expensive. Poor maintenance to your house is very costly down the track so by getting an exterior house washer or roof washing expert like Wash Rite in could save you many thousands of dollars down the track. Plus your home will be the cleanest and best looking house on the street.

Below is a short video of insurance company's refusing to insure your home if your roof is not clean as they recognize the cost of replacement.

The second big reason why you should wash your house and have your roof cleaned professionally is when you go to sell your house a clean house looks better and will demand a higher sale price and will put more money into your back pocket. A person looking to buy a home for there family does not want to have to deal with the mess of washing a house they have just purchased, They want a home to move into and to start to enjoy straight away. A simple house wash and roof treatment yearly can keep your house looking great all year round and will mean an easier sale on auction day. Just as the Wash Rite motto "Where street appeal is everything"

Below i will show a few pictures of an old house we washed before it went on the market, The real estate agent said the wash has added $15000 to $20000 to the sale price.

House Wash Soap Mix

A big question i always get asked at Wash Rite house wash is whats in the soap we use and or how do we make it? Well its simple.
We get a 20lt drum and fill it up with the following.
6 to 7lt of SH
and 13lt of water
as well as 250 to 350ml of surfantant , This will make the soap mix foam up and will help it stick to the house when applying the soap mix.

The soap mix is the same on 90% of all the house washes that we do, from time to time we have to ad some other chemicals but thats not that often. These extra chemicals and why we ad them are a trade secret at Wash Rite house wash so we wont disclose them just yet.

Below is cut from our own standard operating procedure at Wash Rite house wash.

                                               House wash Mix Recipe

Get a clean empty 20lt chemical drum that has a venting screw cap and fill with the following.
4lt of Sodium Hypochlorite
16lt fresh water
150 to 200ml of surfactant

The above recipe is for a house that has an average amount soiling from dirt, moss, mould. If the house is excessively dirty use the below recipe.

Excessively dirty mix.
6lt of Sodium Hypochlorite
14 lt fresh water
250ml of surfactant
Let this soap mix dwell on the house for up to 15 minutes before rinsing and always keep it wet by keep on lightly spraying during the 15 minute dwell time.

If you find a house that has a red or rust color stain on the bottom third of the house this is a mould that is hard to remove but not impossible, Use the excessively dirty mix above but if that does not work rinse and try a 50% SH and water mix and this will remove it.

Red Mould as described above11219716_673097679457377_8842398277651782749_n.jpg
